Having been out on the London salsa scene this week, I have been somewhat surprised, as August is normally the quiet month, yet all the venues have seemed pretty vibrant.

It could be Londoners have opted for a staycation, knowing that they can learn and dance salsa every day of the week.  It is also tourists from the rest of the country or anywhere else in the world, who are swelling the dance floors.

I had some really good nights out and hope that you will do the same in the coming weeks and months.

This Friday Salsa Dance Central, near Goodge Street, offer an absolute salsa beginners lesson free of charge from 7.30pm, with all level lesson On1 and On2 from 8pm.  Social dancing only costs £5.

Every Saturday you can claim £5 off the absolute beginners salsa intensive workshop at Bar Salsa in Soho with Streetbeat, who have taught salsa for over 20 years.

Salsa, bachata and kizomba are on the menu, as always, this Saturday night in Barnet with Salsatricity, whilst there is a live salsa band in Guildford, where quoting London Salsa will get you £2 off.

On Sunday, I've my fingers crossed for good weather at the bandstand in Hyde Park  where Here to Havana, a 16-piece big band are live and free from 3pm.

DJ Hughie is in Ilford for the 2nd Sunday salsa party, this month with a picnic, weather permitting.

August traditionally is a holiday month for some of the salsa schools, so you are reminded to check in with the host whether their lessons are running as usual.

One that is definitely on this Monday is the new Camden offering from Sam Sleek, where lessons are for all levels followed by a social.  Lessons are On1 and mambo On2.

Drop in lessons with Pexava continue on Tuesdays in Northfields, whilst Todo Latino at Bar Salsa Temple is flourishing, offering all level salsa classes and late night party dancing.

Quote LS126 for a free absolute beginners salsa lesson that happens at the same time as multiple other levels.  All come together for the Hammersmith Wednesday social afterwards.

Metrolatina at Bar Salsa Soho on Wednesday offer a free intro to dance session at 7pm, with all levels and club dancing to follow.

Brand new to Thursdays is Richard Marcel's choreography course at the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden.  Quote LondonSalsa on the door for your special offer.

The London LatinFest 2019 launch party for Bank Holiday weekend is on Friday 23rd in High Holborn with a salsa/bachata themed late night lesson/party night featuring top international teachers and performers. Quote this site or show your Global Dance Card app for a £5 discount.

London LatinFest continues on Saturday, with a 4-roomed all day blow out that includes a full day of  workshops in XBody Salsa On1 & On2 , Cha cha, Afrocuban, Ladies & Mens Styling, Sensual Bachata, Bachata Fusion & Dominicana, Brazilian Zouk, Neo Zouk & Rio Zouk.

In Paddington, Caramelo host the Saturday 31st workshops aimed at beginners and improvers, where you can learn salsa in a day or bachata in a day.
